5 Months Old!! (2/9/11)

I'm already 5-months old!!!

Visiting Stella and meeting Mara Figenholtz (2/8/11)

The Figenholtzes welcomed Mara into their family on 12/19/10.  On 2/8/11, we all went to visit Mara and Stella (turning 2 on 2/24).  While visiting, Jessica was a big help by helping us decorate Ellie's helmet!

My helmet is going to look SO pretty!  Thanks Jessica!

Stella didn't want the paparazzi all over her, so only Mara and Ellie posed together.

Wayne and 7-week old Mara

Mara's about 10 pounds, Ellie's about 14 - Ellie looks so much bigger than 4 pounds heavier!

Ellie's 1st Vacation (2/8-2/10)

We enjoyed our first family vacation at Key Lime Cove in Gurnee, IL.  Wayne ended his career with Aon last week and starts his new position with Mead Johnson next week so this week was family week!  The weather outside is cold so it was perfect to spend a couple of days in the "Florida Keys."

As a family we enjoyed swimming, restaurants, arcades and even the Jelly Belly Factory (Lisa even braved the Bean-Boozled flavors such as rotten egg, barf, baby wipe, dog food and pencil shavings - and yes, they really do taste like those flavors!).  Ellie enjoyed her first time swimming, her favorite was the lazy river.  Every time she went around the lifeguards all waved and Ellie would smile, except when the cute lifeguard waved - she played hard to get.  :-)

It's been a big day swimming for the first time, luckily I'm snug and warm in my ducky towel!

King-Sized bed all to myself!

So this is swimming...

We're going swimming again!  Thanks for the wetsuit Gramps!

Mommy and me in the wave pool.  I'm not so sure about the waves splashing me in the face.

Happy 5 Month Birthday to me!!!

Ellie's newest food...

Ellie is about to enjoy some sweet potatoes...her latest cuisine.  Bon Appetit!

Now this is a case of Helmet Hair! (2/3/11)

Ellie has a moderate case of Brachycephaly with Plagiocephaly.  Due to this, she is required to wear a helmet 23 hours per day to help round her head.  Depending on how fast Ellie grows, she'll be wearing the helmet approximately 10-12 weeks.

The first couple of hours have been alright, Ellie doesn't seem to mind the helmet at all.  Every few hours we do need to take the helmet off and make sure Ellie's head is handling the helmet alright.  She will go back to the clinic once per week to have the helmet fitted to her growing head.

Blizzard of 2011 (2/2/11)

Starting about 1pm on 2/1/11 and ending about 1pm on 2/2/11, we were hit with over 20 inches of snow and 65mph winds causing major snow drifts!  The pictures below show a bit of what we had to trek through.
As a reference, the wood fence is a 6ft privacy fence and Ellie is 24 inches tall.

Ellie and Jacob Playing (1/31/11)

Just a normal day with the nanny...
Jacob's mobile and loves to crawl into whatever it is that Ellie's in.  Jacob also likes to share by grabbing Ellie's face and feet as well as giving her blocks by placing them on her head.

Don't they both look so innocent?

I'm just trying to help Ellie do her neck stretches!

Ellie kicks to keep Jacob off of her toys!

Dakota has taught Ellie to judge - notice her look in the background?  :-)
