Ellie playing at 6-weeks Old (10/22/10)

Ellie is beginning to interact more.

While playing on her gym mat she enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror. She was getting so excited looking at herself that she began hitting the snail, which makes noise and lights up when touched.

Sorry for the video being on its side, I taped Ellie with my phone and I couldn't figure out how to rotate it once posted.

Big Ten Pub Crawl (10/16/10)

Ellie attended her first pub crawl (out of the womb, she did partake in the Red Line Bar Crawl in July) at 5 weeks old. Only 1 bar was visited due to crowded locations, but she was in for the long haul! Mom wanted to leave long before Ellie did!

Mommy's First Run - err, Jog (10/18/10)

After breakfast and our walk with Dakota, Ellie was still fast asleep in her car seat so mommy took advantage!  I jumped on the treadmill for a 20-minute workout, the first one since Ellie being born!
But shh, don't tell the doctor, I'm not supposed to be working out until after my 6-week check-up (which is Thursday)...

With Ellie next to the treadmill, I ran half a mile followed by a quick walk and then a mile straight.  For the first run back after 10 weeks I can't complain about the distance or the pace.  But I WILL rave about Ellie sleeping the entire time (and still sleeping now!).

For those interested, I'm down 18 of the 24 pounds I put on during pregnancy.  Although I did put on weight before pregnancy, so I still have a goal of about 12 more pounds to take off.  Not very easy with Halloween candy (which I always buy) and my chocolate addiction - I keep forgetting that I'm not pregnant anymore...oops  :-)

October 17, 2010

Today was Jacob Plack's Baptism, so Ellie, Wayne and I went to church.  Ellie made it about 45 minutes before getting fussy which forced us to leave to go feed her.

After attending Jacob's party we experienced a rough evening.  Ellie was very gassy and wailed for about 3.5 hours straight.  It's not the screaming that drives you crazy, but the feeling of helplessness for the poor little peanut!  She finally passed some gas and had a large poop - followed immediately by a bit of milk and a LONG sleep.

Wayne and I are both VERY thankful that Ellie does not have colic...we couldn't imagine what life would be like if she wailed like that every day.

Costco Trip (10/14/10)

Ellie loves being in her car seat, which makes shopping very easy.  Ellie really enjoys Costco!

Sporting the Baby Bjorn

Now that Ellie is over 8 pounds, she's allowed to go into the Baby Bjorn.  Once Lisa gets used to wearing Ellie again, it'll be a great way to tote her around, but Wayne wasn't too much of a fan, but doesn't he look adorable?!?!

One Month Check-up (10/12/10)

Ellie had her one-month check-up at the doctor.  She's progressing normally and got her 2nd Hep B shot (which she handled like a pro).
Just FYI - Since I have been told by at least 3 different people that a baby cries to develop her lungs - I decided to ask the doctor if this was true - it's not...it's just an old wives' tale (which I suspected).

Weight
8lb 6oz (which is up 22oz in the past 15 days!)
Just about the 25th percentile for a 1-month old female

Height
20 Inches
Just about the 25th percentile for a 1-month old female

Head Circumference
13 3/4 inches
Just under the 14th percentile for a 1-month old female (She was under the 3rd percentile at birth)

To celebrate such a good check-up, Grandma and Grandpa Svejcar came in and took Ellie and mommy to the Lincoln Park Zoo.  It was such a nice day outside that Ellie slept the entire time in her stroller, but it was still a nice experience.  :-)

Heading home after the zoo!

My first monkey stuffed animal!

Daddy's Sous Chef (10/10/10)

Daddy asked for some help in the kitchen and Ellie willingly offered, although she has a bit to learn - such as not getting INTO the pot to stir the potatoes!

Sleepy Sunday (10/10/10)

Ellie loves to be held, as soon as you put her down in her bassinet, she cries - but put her on your chest or in your arms and she sleeps for hours!!

1st visit to Grandma and Grandpa Milczarek's House (10/9/10)

Ellie is 1 month old today!!

Ellie's First Storytime

We ventured out to Morton Grove's Library for our first storytime.  Lisa & Jacob (4 months) and Jessica & Stella (19 months) met us there.  Ellie can't wait until she's big enough to crawl around and play with the other kids!  For now she spent time on the floor watching Jacob play with toys.  Stella was very social with all the other children.

Watching how Jacob does tummy time so I can do it too!

Hanging out with Uncle Chris S.

Uncle Chris came over to visit on 10/7.  He's going to be a fun uncle, I hear he lives right next to the zoo!!

Relaxing on the Deck (10/6/10)

It's such a lovely day out that we decided to lounge on the deck (Ellie and me in the shade and Dakota basking in the sunshine).  Ellie likes to use Grandpa Svejcar's bassinet from when he was a baby!

Ellen will be able to tell friends that she used to sleep in something that was from the mid-1900's!  hehe
